Configure DNS search domain on Red Hat

8 April 2022 - Thomas Damgaard

On Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), a DNS seach domain or suffix is configured through the file /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-<NIC>

To add a search domain, simply add

DOMAIN=example.com

or for multiple seach domains:

DOMAIN="example.com sub.example.com"
